Holy Week began yesterday with Palm Sunday.
While this week will be a busy one as we prepare for Easter amidst regular routines and tasks, I would like to invite you to try to take a few moments to slow down each day to be intentional in meditation of what Christ paid—the ultimate price—and the great gift of life that He has given us.
Sonlight has an amazing free download to help you recognize Holy Week with your children. While I won’t be able to do everything listed in the guide, I will be going through each day with my sons—reading the liturgies and Bible readings.
We will wash each other’s feet on Thursday, and we will make hot cross buns to have on Good Friday. Making the buns will take a little pre-planning as I work Friday, but I hope I can still get this done!
Tye mentioned the possibility of wanting to go to participate in a Seder meal at youth, so we will try to make that happen for him, along with seeing about having our own Seder meal or recognition at home.
I’ve also just ordered some frankincense and myrrh essential oil and I hope they will arrive in time to use Friday as we think about Jesus’ burial.
Tonight, for Holy Monday, we enjoyed some fig newtons to go along with the Bible reading and the story of the fig tree.
Here is the link for the free download, and I hope you enjoy!
